MOUNTAIN OF THE DEAD

February first, of 1959,
9 young men and women, went trekking in the cold
Mountains of Ural, land of ice and snow
Here’s no place to hide, to seek shelter from the storm

What had gone on in those hours of despair
What had caused them to plunge into their deaths

Searchers found the groups, abandoned damaged tent
Front flaps still buttoned, supplies and clothes inside
Footprints in the snow, leading miles away
The hope to find survivors, turned into nightmare
